    New Toshiba e409AS, 409CS and e479s!

There is a new version of the Customer Support app e5-6.3.1.fls that works with all of the above listed models.

This is a relief because a lot of smaller dealers do not want the extra expense and effort to install a 3rd party DCA (Data Collection Agent) like FM Audit or Print Fleet to capture their meter reads.

There is also the eCloud Meter Collection utility which connects to Toshiba's eCloud Connect but only works in the USA at this time.

There is a TWAIN driver for users who need to pull scan documents typically into a medical records document system.

There is the Toshiba HBP print driver which is a relabelled Lexmark original print driver for those installs where the Toshiba Universal 2 print driver will not work.

The e409As and e409CS are definitely for A4 customers who print under 2k pages per month and do not have the budget to buy smething like the e330AC.

The knock on the predecessor e389cs was the fuser was unrelaible and expensive to replace at up to $600.00. No one knows the reliability yet on the e409CS fuser but it now costs approx $198.00 USD.

The e479s is the replacement for the durable and well liked e478s.

The e409CS is the same physical size as the e479s but has a CPC in the range of $0.020 Black and $0.14 colour.

The e409CS seems to have the same print engine as the Xerox C315. The knock on the Xerox was when these MFPs were placed in print environments that exceeded 5k per month they started to have service issues that quickly turned them into a money loser and hassle for the Service Dept. They also had some glitchy firmware issues.

The eBridge Global print app is available for install on all of these new copiers.

Unfortunately, these models lack the ability to add an app for MS365 and other popular Cloud portals like:

    • OneDrive for Microsoft 365 for Business
    • Exchange online (Microsoft 365 for Business)
    • Google Drive Google Workspace
    • Gmail for Google Workspace
    • DropBox
    • Box.com
    • Google Drive
    • OneDrive

Both the Xerox C415 and the Sharp MX-C358F are very similar products.

The Sharp offers a smaller 4.3" LCD panel, wireless as an option and 2 GB RAM.

The Xerox offers a 7" LCD panel but only 4.3" are a touch panel. Wireless is an option and 2 GB RAM. Xerox advertises this MFP as suitable for workgroups of 2-10 people that print up to 8,500 pages per month. The expensive CMYK imaging/ developer drum assembly is rated for 150,000 prints plus is $800.00 dealer cost. You would be replacing this part every 17 months.

The Toshiba e409CS has a 7" fully usable LCD panel, built in wireless and a 128 GB SSD. I would not want to place it in any customer location tha tprints more than 2,000 pages per month. This would get me to 60 months and then it would become a customer cost item outside of any all inclusive cpc maintenance program.
