e-Studio 352 copier - default "Quality Transmit"/"Quality TX" when faxing?

Is there a way to configure the unit to default to "Quality TX" mode when sending a fax? I can set it per-fax, and I can set it in the address book, but I suspect users will forget to turn it on when simply entering the fax number with the keypad.

Our phone line is less than stellar and requires faxes to be sent at a lower bitrate.

    Thanks!

Hm I looked through the fax manual and did not see it. Only other place would be under user functions under User or Admin. You can set the scan density for faxes in 05 mode and there are some other codes in 13 mode that have to do with attenuation. Honestly I'm not that familiar with changing the codes, it's better to fix the line I suppose. Take a look at the fax handbook and see what you think some of it may help. I did not see anyway there to change quality default, I'm thinking it might be in user functions though.

I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

If you are having line issues, then try the following.

      1. Attenuate the TX Transmission level according to your carriers specifications.

      2. Turn off JBIG compression.

      3. Turn off v34.

You will find the codes to adjust these values in the Fax Service Hanbook.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

Thanks!! I'll see if I can bribe someone in TBS' service department to let me take a peek at that manual

Edit: Looks like the next step down from v.34 is 14400. Is there any way to force 9600? Archaic, I know.

It's been a while since I've had a chance to look at this because of a snafu with the phone company. I had a tech from Toshiba out today. According to the carrier, the attenuation was already as it should be, but we did disable v34 and JBIG as TheOwl suggested. The Toshiba tech, like ToshibaTech, did not find any code to force 9600 in the manual. But, perhaps that will not be necessary, because so far, everything works as it should!

Thanks to all who responded. Fingers crossed
