estudio 351c - no color copies

Have a new 351c. Installed color toner catridges and think I have enabled color copy/printing. However, when a color copy is attempted only the black part of the page is printed - anything in color is blank on the copy. Any help much appreciated!

I would think the machine would code out but they do not ship with color developer. Dealer supplied and installed.

      Thanks, bryand.

So in order for this copier to do color it needs both the toner and developer (3 colors each - 6 parts total).

Found the developer kit that I believe is for this model (6LE50702000, DEV-KIT-281CCLR). How difficult is it to install?

      Thank you!

The developer units come out on the left side, there is a lever to unlock the revolver so you can spin it. The dev units are held in by a plastic bracket on each end. I believe that is the right dev kit.

yeah it's the right kit, 2 screws each side, got to pry the little clips up a bit to pop the top off carefully, poor in slowly so you dont spill it all, then take side cover off by rotator, put idev units in make sure you follow the color appropriate location :P

Thanks for your help, guys! One last question: How often does this developer need to be restored compared to the toner?

            Regards

Technically should be pm'ed at 30k, however Dev can last to about 3x that amount. It all depends on environment.

In regards to the toner it obviously depends on how much color your doing. All the CPC's are based off 4% which is very close to like 2 full lines of color text. So depending on how much color is used will change how often you change dev and toner.

                Dev Kit Install Location

Got the dev kit and want to make sure I pour the developer in the right location. Please see attached photos. It's a little confusing because it appears that the toner catridge interfaces at the same opening. So I'm guessing that the toner and developer mix inside the dev unit. Also, if this is all correct should there be any issue with toner already being in the dev unit? Thanks

I suppose you could pour it in the hole but there are two (I think two) screws and a couple snaps and the cover which the toner slides into comes off and you can pour the developer right in. I believe one of the screws you need to take out if the blue one in your last picture and if I remember right there is one on the other end.

Going back to the 2nd post on this thread...The MFP should code out on start up if no color developer installed. CEXX, I don't think there is anyway around this. Can you get a color copy or calibration test print out?
If you don't see your question answered in the forum, please don't think it's OK to PM me for a personal reply...I do not give out firmware and/or manuals.

Did you run 05-200, and 05-396?

No, did not run these. How are they run and what do they do?

                          Thanks

05-200 will get a reference value for your developer you just put in. You need this value to keep the toner/developer ratio correct. 05-396 will run an image quality loop looking at each color patch on the transfer belt and get a target value of what "good" copies look like. Then this value is maintained when the machine runs IQC loop on it's own. You need to run both or else the copies will probably crap out and the developer probably won't last. 05-200 will take a while to run and will run everything your black as well (I think on this model) but that's ok. Make sure you run a calibration for copy/print under User Functions, Admin, 123456, General, Calibration as well, and continue to run the calibration every week or every other week depending on your volume.
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

I appreciate the heads up on the calibration and setup routines, ToshibaTech. Color copies are now much closer to original and not as dark. Thanks again.
