    Toshiba 355 Driver issues

    Heyas

We have a windows 2008 64bit server with the PLC drivers installed and shared. When the client connects to the drivers all is ok until they try and print. There is about a 20 second delay, as in the mouse will just turn into an hour glass, then it will unhang and start printing. It also does the same thing when clicking on printing preferences, hangs for about 20 seconds then comes up.

When the drivers are installed locally on a workstation it is all instant. Also if using the driver from the 2008 server its self there is no delay on printing or going to the properties.

Also if you download the 64bit PS driver for 2008 server it will not install, it says that it is not supported and will not install!! Even that on eid.toshiba.com.au drivers section it says 64bit 2003/2008 server etc!!

Any help would be great thanks guys!

    Drivers

What OS are the workstations running. You might have to go into the printer properties on the server and install additional drivers for it to hand out to the various workstations, especially if some of your workstations are 32 bit.

Just as a silly question, but have you renamed the TCP port by any chance?

The default name should be IP_xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (x's are the ip address)

I have had silly problems when the port has been named something other than default.

          Try next:

          1. Set it for RAW printing.
          2. In Advanced tab > un-check enable advanced print future.
          3. In Ports > Configure port > un-check SNMP status enabled.

          BTW which version is driver?

I'll never ask if I didn't check user manual, service manual, parts list, BSI/TNI/TAD... web, existing threads.

            Just another train of thought.

Try turning off the 'Enable SNMP Communication' or leave it on and set it 'Manual' with in the Driver. It can be found in the 'Configuration' tab in the printer properties.

I know the Konica Minoltas have the same issue with their Auto Accuire setting.

Thanks guys, I'll pass this info on to our I.T guys and see how they get on.

They are the latest drivers off Toshiba - Photocopiers, printers and fax the 64 bit ones with the added additional drivers for the XP machines connecting to the server.

Disabled SNMP on copier, and on driver, set to manual, tried changng port settings, still no luck.

I think there is a driver issue on Toshiba's end, since we cant even install the PS 64 bit driver, it says this driver is not supported and will not install.

Look at the attachment, had this issue with a Konica Minolta product. Server was 2008 64 bit, clients were 32 bit XP. Shared driver on server, but none of the 32 bit clients could connect (wrong driver message). Tried adding as shown in attachment and all was fine. Ed

Thank you to everyone who helped wit this. If anyone comes across this issue we found the fix was to clear all the NV flags, format the HD and rebuild the machine, firmware etc, and it came right.

Weird, I just has a 351c on which the 64bit PS would not install but the PCL5c would install. Same symptom you had with your PS driver not installing, I did not have a slow printing problem though and everyone pulled off the server with the right drivers added under "additional drivers."
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

I think they have uploaded the incorrect driver to the site for the 64bit, or it just does not work lol.
