Well, it sounds like you have 2 issues..1, the MFP does not recognize the controller is plugged in, and 2..the controller wont boot due to some failure in the process. I have been able to correct the 1st issue by pulling the controller form the MFP motherboard and "lightly" brushing the contacts with a toothbrush. Even so, I have never seen the controller not display anything on the monitor (even if it fails to boot). Let's verify a few things...1 you are using a VGA monitor, and 2 you are plugged into the VGA connection on the controller. I've never had to do this, but I believe you can pull the controller from the MFP, hook up power, monitor and keyboard and it should boot just like a normal desktop PC. In fact, with a few minor changes to the OS you can use the GL1020 as a PC.

Basically the monitor should be showing the initial startup process...memory check..HDD check etc. If you are still running ver 1.X it should boot up using Win NT and that should look familiar to any Windows users. If you are at ver 2.x it will be a Linux OS and after the boot process you basically get a grey screen with a flashing cursor.

Are you an end user or a tech?

Is it starting up after you press the print button and hit enter to start controller? If you pulled it from the MFP, did you try pushing the small black P/B to attemt to power it up?

yes it was waiting for like two minutes then started. However the monitor is still blank. Also once i removed the ram stick from the controller and that was the only time the print/network button was able to activate . it was showing shutting down. since then i was not able to get even the same result. Shuold i try replacing the ram on the controller?

I don't think there is anything else I can do for you unless you want to try and replace the HDD and reload the controller software. Youy earlier post of the "Please wait, Starting Controller" message points to HDD failure. If you want to persue this on your own I can provide the CDs and the instructions for the reload, however, I can't help you with obtaining the 60-80 gb HDD. Your best option, but the most expensive, it to have a qualified Toshiba tech get involved. Emujo
