If I remember correctly you can remove the HDD. But someone who knows for sure might chime in, or just try it We still have a few, but we try to weed them out when we have a call on one.
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

I don't know the official word. I remember hearing somewhere that you could but you'd have no memory.

Having said that, I tried it once to no avail. It would not work without a drive.

Perhaps their is an 08 code that would allow use with no drive.

I will try to get a look at the handbook and see if I find anything.

Update: The handbook is no longer on tech to go so I can't access it. Perhaps someone else who still has one can look.

I could not find such a code. In other hand there must be a part of machine's firmware on the HDD. So my opinion is that machine could not work without HDD.

I'll never ask if I didn't check user manual, service manual, parts list, BSI/TNI/TAD... web, existing threads.

HDD is only used for storage but I don't think it will run without it. 2 questions...1 did you replace it with the same size drive and jumper settings, and did you run the format command? 08/690.
If you don't see your question answered in the forum, please don't think it's OK to PM me for a personal reply...I do not give out firmware and/or manuals.
