Toshiba e-Studio 305 email outside of internal network?

I have a customer that wants to know why in the address book area there is the entry for e-mail. We set up scan to e-mail, but she basically wants to know if it is possible to e-mail outside of her network directly from the copier without having to e-mail to her personal PC first and then forward as an attachment.
    Thanks in advance.

    Scan to E-mail

If I'm reading your question properly, you can set in the address book when you enter a name, the fax # for that person and also a scan to email link. For example diane@yahoo.com. Then when you want to email diane, you touch the email button and then scan the documents and they go direct to her email....not to your pc.....

Yes, you can send an email outside your network. On their EXCHANGE server, you will need to set the account the machine is using to relay.

The machines can be also setup to authenticate each user on their domain at the machine and thus each e-mail looks like it came from that user. However I dont' like this because it makes scanning much more user-unfriendly... they have to punch in their login each time. Also, it is harder to setup and will most likely require they help of their IT staff.
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

If the customer is using an Exchange server, then you can use either of the last two ideas.

Personally I would set an account in the domain for the copier to use and then setup a mailbox for the copier as well. This way you can also check your Exchange logs for everything sent by that copier.

One the copier, all you need to do is enter in the the SMTP Client details along with the account deatils you setup on the domain. For example:

          Domain Username - copier
          Domain Password - copier123
          Mailbox for Account - copier@example.com

You would use these details on the copier, therefore making it an authenticated user of the network / exchange service.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

I gave my customer the options you mentioned here & told her she needs her IT to set this up. I also told her it was user unfriendly and hard to set up. It may have disencouraged her from pursuing this idea further.
            Thanks again for your inputs.
            Have yourselves a great day.

I find that most customers like just being able to have the scan put into a directory on their server, or on the machines file share. And then just attach the file them selves. Then it looks like it came from them and only adds one small step to the scanning process. Plus it's easier to maintain.

Being able to scan to e-mail directly is a great "look what I can do" feature though.
