We had this unit working, mostly, but made a couple changes and have this condition. We are trying to restore a backup configuration but can't get to that menu. Our documentation is incomplete or just too ambiguous. How do we get to the "Restore Backup" menu?
eStudio 310C hangs at "Please wait..."

We have the manuals
The description of the process to get to the Restore Backup menu is ambiguous. It says, "Press the first line selection button on the Control Panel during diagnostics to display the Restore Backup menu and select Restore Backup." What does that mean?Comment

What are you trying to restore to the machine?
Department Codes?
Address Books?
Sometimes if you edit these files and restore them to the machine, it will cause a lockup because of an invalid character or something like that.
If that is the case, then you need to format the HDD and then attempt to reload the backups. Please remember that formatting the HDD will destroy any user and admin data held on the HDD.Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.Comment

restore
We have the condition where it hangs at "please wait...". It had been working until we made some minor changes to networking. Thinking it was those changes, we wanted to go back to where it was working. Is there something else we can/should try?Comment

Which changes did you make?
There is a network initialization that you can do from the 08 mode which will reset the NIC back to factory. Have a look in the service manual for this one. Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.Comment

08 reset
We have the service manual but there is nothing in the documentation regarding reseting or initializing the network settings in the Setting Mode 08.Comment

is the please wait message displayed on the copier touch screen or the fiery display? Also, is this the embedded board (X3E+) or the external fiery?
If it says Please Wait on the copier, I would say you need to format the hard drive (08-690) first. If that fails to resolve, you may have to re-install system software.
If on the controller, I would definitely lean towards a system software re-install.
I believe the nic card reset code is not for this machine, but for newer models with built-in controllers (e-bridge machines).Comment

Please wait
If the fiery display is on the left side, that is where the message is displayed. The copier panel (Center) seems to be normal. It copies OK.
It displays X3E+ during the power up cycle on the lefthand display, so can I assume it is embedded?
Is the the software loaded from a PC? If so, where can we get the software?Comment

BRI'll never ask if I didn't check user manual, service manual, parts list, BSI/TNI/TAD... web, existing threads.Comment

Your system software is corrupted on the fiery and needs to be re-installed.
You'll need a computer with a parallel port (the fiery uses a parallel connection) and the software (available at Toshiba's tech site). I don't have it here.
Besides the system software, there are patches that need to be installed as well.
Good Luck.Comment

We will check that out. Is the software available for non-Toshiba authorized partners' downloads?Comment
