    root password for Toshiba GL-1020

Hello, we have a Toshiba E-Studio 550/GL-1020 here that has so many scan logs on it, that I cannot get in to view or delete the logs.

I need to see the logs to determine why my scans to a network share aren't working. It is a Windows 2003 server that I am trying to send to, and I have changed to appropriate settings in group policy, and the registry.

What I wanted to do was hop on the console of this controller and find those logs and delete them myself. I plugged in a monitor and keyboard, but am unable to stop the boot process to get into the box with no password. (single user mode).

So, it looks like I will need the root password to do what I would like to do.

Does anyone out there know the root password for this controller? I have seen the other thread that mentioned that it's root/secret, but that doesn't work for me.

    Name: TOSHIBAF
    Copier Model: e-STUDIO550
    Controller Model: GL-1020
    Controller Version: 2.1.2.5
Hard Disc Space Available: 6367 MB

If anyone can offer any advice at all to help my situation, I would appreciate it. I am about to pull that hard drive and stick in another PC, find the logs, and delete them that way. I would really like to avoid that though.

Go to Top Access (from a computer on the same network as printer, launch internet explorer and enter the machines IP address in the URL). Log on as administrator (user name is admin, default password is either 12345 or 123456, can't remember off the top of my head and may be different if someone has altered).

You should be able to delete from there.

Thank you for the reply, but unfortunately there are so many logs that it cannot even list the log files, or delete them. It gets hung up and eventually times out with an out of memory error from the controller.

You can use the recovery CD to reload the OS, this will wipe the logs and start you from fresh. The controller is at ver 2.3.x.x now so you might want to obtain the latest versions. The GL 1020 does not have a cd drive so you have to put one in to accomplish this. You need a IDE drive cable that will connect to the port that the toshiba made cables connect to and there are plenty of power connections. EMujo
If you don't see your question answered in the forum, please don't think it's OK to PM me for a personal reply...I do not give out firmware and/or manuals.

This is what we are doing. I don't have the disc, or cables, so a local tech is coming out to upgrade/reinstall the OS.

          Thanks for the help.

Denver, if you are paying for this service, ensure the tech loads the latest version...don't let them put something earlier like 2.1.X.X. latest version will support newer OSs like Vista etc..Also, if you can find some old 256 MB DIMMS, you can put these in the controller to bump up the on board RAM. Makes a big difference with large print jobs. EMujo
