I am getting a black line on about every 5 or so copies .It is about 2 inches in length. some times it will be gone for 30 or more copies then it comes back for 1 or 2 sheets then it is gone again. Does any one have any suggestions.

If you can upload a good scan (greyscale or color ... not black and white) of the image we can probably tell you what it looks like. Right now from what you say it could be anything.I will not give you service manuals or firmware. -
Check for foreign matters between exit cover and transfer belt.
