    Toshiba E-Studio 5520C Department codes

    Hello-
We have the department code feature enabled on the above printer. We are having issues with it on certain people. The department codes work in all programs except outlook only on certain people. I have tried deleting them from the Server properties, recreating the que, using pcl over ps and vice versa. Nothing seems to change. Has anyone seen this behavior? One other thing to mention on some it has been fixed by deleting it in server properties. Nothing is consistent.

    Thank you
    Bob

Just a couple of questions so that I might be able to help out more.

    1. How is the driver installed on the client machines? Local? Network?
    2. Does the same thing happen when one of the users with the issue logs onto a computer that is know to be good?
    3. Is Outlook up to date with patches for everyone?
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

Everyone is up to date as far as I can tell.

Another couple things depending on how you have it setup. If you have it setup for no limit black then it will never ask for a code when the print driver is set to black, only for auto/color. So it may be possible that the ones having the problem have a default setting for black. If you have it set to ask for a code for black and color copies then the only other thing I can think of is that they have their code saved in the print properties (I think this is possible still I'd have to check to be 100%.)
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

It is possible to save the department code in the driver so that the driver never asks for a code when you press print.

Right click the driver and go to Printing Preferences then Others and the Dept code can be added in the Department box, click apply and it's set.
Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the restraints
