e-Studio 520, Paper Feed Lift issues...

This is the first time ever that I've experienced problems AFTER replacing all the broken gears in a lift unit. This is the upper 2 Paper Cassette lift assembly, behind the power supply on rear frame.

Initially, I heard the telltale ratcheting of gears when you've got broken gears in the housing. Pulled the assy. apart, replaced the two broken gears and assumed all was well.

Now I cannot get the machine to see paper in EITHER of the two top trays. I hear the motor lifting the trays, and I can even SEE the paper at the top of the feed section, but she just won't feed. Occasionally, I can get it to recognize paper and stop saying "Add Paper" but then when you copy it says "jam" and the paper never leaves the cassette. Weird..

I took out and dusted the lift sensors on the feed units as well, just to be sure...

    Any help appreciated!

If you cycle power to the MFP, do the trays show paper, but after removing and inserting the trays, no paper is indicated? If so, you have developer dropping down and blocking the tray "in" sensor. Emujo
If you don't see your question answered in the forum, please don't think it's OK to PM me for a personal reply...I do not give out firmware and/or manuals.

The only way to fix this was to swap the ENTIRE Lift Box assy from bottom to top.... Nothing else fixed it. The only thing I could think of was that I had TWO bad motors. I swapped the motor in the first box with another used one (suspected good, of course) but everything else failed. With the other box in the top slot, the machine came right up and ran great from those two upper trays.... Go figure!
