    Toshiba SC-2 controller issues

Our firm purchased a "new" SC-2 controller for our Toshiba e-studio 65 about a year ago. It looked need and seemd to be packed from the factory. The tech told us the controller was complete, new and easily installed. Initially, we called our own copy tech to install the controller, he bought an ethernet card for the controller but was never able to get the controller to boot (on or off the copier). We then contacted a local copier repair firm. They decided that the client SCSI on the copier was probably bad and got a used one from their stock that they "knew for sure" was good. It didn't work either, the SC-2 still didn't boot. They tried various solutions, call some folks, including, thay said, Toshiba, without any success. We allocated $1000.00 to the install of the SC-2 controller, so once their charges totaled $1000, we kicked them out.
In any case, we moved offices and the local copier tech that services some of the tennents in our new building mentioned that he thinks the SC-2 controller requires a "scan dongle" to operate. I called both previous techs and they seem to think that the dongle functionality is internal to the SC-2.
So far we've spent $2500 without being able to scan a single page for the Toshiba.
    Any suggestions?

Please don't take any offense but you have already sunk too much money into a copier that's essentially a boat anchor. Toshiba is about to discontinue model specific parts (which is most parts) for this model machine. I'd get what I could out of the machine and try to get a new 455 series on lease if at all possible. If you really need more speed then go for a 855 series. 455 will scan in color, 855 is more robust but only scans in black/white. They will both print/scan out of the box and currently officially support 2k/xp/vista and I'm sure will have a 7 driver out soon. They can both scan to SMB, FTP, E-Mail, USB. They are just really really really good machines. We've sold a bunch of 455s since the middle of last year and I have yet to have to make a serious service call on one.
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

Yes You need GB-1010 for Scanner Kit (FileShare & TWAIN)) and/or GB-1020 for Scanner Kit (Scan to Email). I think it is nearly impossible to find such an options. So ToshibaTech's suggestion is better one.

I'll never ask if I didn't check user manual, service manual, parts list, BSI/TNI/TAD... web, existing threads.
