If replacing the hdd is the only solution will i also need to update anything else. and how to replace the hdd. how much will that cost is it worth it? thanks.

Do a sector check...08-694. If it checks good, reinstall firmware. If it checks bad, replace the HDD.
I'd just replace the HDD, as they are pretty cheap.

Thanks very much for the reply. I tried 08-694. The screen says

      System Mode Error
Err No [3(0x3)], Sect Adrs [1154304(0x119d00)]

Is there any solution? if reinstalling firmware might work where to get it from and how to do it? If replacing hdd what else i ll need to do (like reinstalling firmware etc) Thanks very much again. i m glad i m getting somewhere.

Just replace the HDD and flash the machine with the proper firmware

In this case, you need to replace the HDD. You also need to know what version your machine was at before it went down. Flashing it with the wrong f/w could lead to more problems.

Reflashing the machine with the latest firmware will be fine.

I don't know about the rest of the world, but in Australia, the latest firmware is 4006. If you are not familiar with installing the firmware on these machines, then you might need to get someone in to do it for you.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

the estudio 350 hdd costs too much in Australia. I have finally found a same copier (second hand) for less money than the hdd. the hdd was costing $350 and a used copier $300 (very rare from office auctions). lol.
anyway Thanks for your help guys. really appreciated.

Yes it will work but you will need to reload the firmware.
