toshiba 4511 doesn't detect cyan toner at all !

    hi...
i'm just an IT Officer, not a copy-tech guy so i honestly don't know any specific thing about copier maintenance and all ...
but we have this big problem here at work with our toshiba 4511 copier ... it's been about 3 months that it gives us "Install New Cyan Toner Cartridge" error every once in a while. first time i thought that maybe the toner's empty so i replaced it with a new one... after about a week the error appeared on the copier's screen again and 'cuz i just bought a new one ... i bought another one but kept the old one too just in case ... but the error keeps popping ! we have a copy-tech guy who visits the device twice a week... he is good with toshiba copiers but he is as hopeless as i am ! he can't find the problem...
has anyone else seen this problem before ?
see ... because i replaced 3 cyan toners and the error never went away i really don't think that the problem is with the toner ... and it's ALWAYS been with the CYAN toner, not the other ones
does anyone have any opinion ?

    tnx,
    MilZ

Do you have a service contract on the MFP? If so, and your rep can't get this fixed, you should look somewhere else for service. Here's whats happening....the color toners are detected by a reflective type sensor. It has gotten dusty from toner dust flying around the inside of the machine and can no longer "see" the toner bottle. The only other thing that might be the cause is you have recieved E451C cyan toner by mistake. The bottle will fit, but the notches at the rear of the bottle are incorrect for the 4511. If you dont have a finisher on the machine it's pretty easy to correct if the sensor is dusty.. 2 screws hold the inner cover in place, remove them and you will see 2 wire harnesses. One goes to a bracket that is held down by 3 screws, and 1 goes toward the rear side and is held in place by 1 screw. Remove the bracket with 1 screw, pull the sensor up through the cavity and clean it with a dry cloth. re-install and put the cover back on. If you have a finisher attached, you must remove this and the unit that directs the paper into the finisher. If you feel confident enough give it a try. Emujo
If you don't see your question answered in the forum, please don't think it's OK to PM me for a personal reply...I do not give out firmware and/or manuals.

Just clean the toner sensor located in back of revolver unit, on top, easy access is to remove the inner tray cover in the rear you'll see a screw holding the toner sensor bracket removed and pull the sensor, blow it and put it back it will work, without making any adjustments. toshiba came up with a countermeasure for this problem

              Sensor

I have cleaned the sensor and still get "install yellow toner" message and the customer has been asked to change cyan also when it wasn't empty.
