    Toshiba e350 no admin access

After HDD replacement, initialization, and firmware reload (HDD and UI f/w per manual instructions), the machine will not let you enter the admin mode password, the screen comes up with the password field, but when you try to key in the code, it will not accept any input as if you were not even pressing any buttons (you can hear them beep, but no asterisks appear in the password field as you try to enter numbers).

I put back the old HDD, and it did the same thing, so I'm thinking maybe something with the firmware update when the new HDD was put in?

    Anybody seen this before?

You can access admin mode from top access ok, the default 123456 admin password gets you in, just not from the copier.

Are you pressing the password button on the screen, to open the on screen keyboard? Then the number buttons to the right, will work.

yes, nothing happens when you press password on the screen. it turns color like it knows you pressed it, but no keyboard screen comes up, and nothing appears in the password field on the screen with the password button when you try pressing the number keys. I've set up their user codes before, and am familiar with how to normally do it. this just started happening after replacing HDD and reloading HDD and UI firmware.

Try to initialize the display 08 69.... don't remember now. Check the procedure for changing HDD one more time if You missed something. Better do it one more time. Use latest version of SH!

I'll never ask if I didn't check user manual, service manual, parts list, BSI/TNI/TAD... web, existing threads.

08-692 adjusts the LCD display registration.

Go back and flash the whole machine. Then do 08-947 then try the admin password.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

I believe also 08-263 lets you see (and change?) the admin password. I can't remember if it's read only or if you can edit it.
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

The admin password works, you can get in from top access, just not at the panel. I have a pretty good feeling that it has to do with mismatched firmware versions. The customer had a really old version that I couldn't get so I used the next oldest one I could get when I replaced the HDD. It would probably fix it if I reflash the whole machine with the newer firmware, however, the customer is happy being able to access the user code counters from top access. So unless something unforeseen happens, its staying as-is.

                Thanks for all the replies.
