[Error Code] Toshiba E-Studio 170F "Toner not recognized" message

I am getting this exact message on two different machines. Both have "genuine" toshiba cartridges in them. It appears the CSIC pba is in contact with the bottoms of the units. Both of these machines are now in my shop because I am unable to resolve the issue. Any ideas? What am I missing?

      Toshiba DP 170 F

      Hi:

There was a bulletin concerning that issue. Print out your function list by pressing the menu key then the down arrow key then the enter key twice. Look at your firmware version, specifically the last 2 digits. Firmware version 1h takes care of this problem. If it's prior to that then you need to update the firmware to 1h or better.

Thank you for the update on the software version info.

And as far as Mr. "manuals for you". Thank you, but I have the manual and it is worthless for this issue.

P.S. How can I print out a function list when the machine has an alarm message? I can't exactly see the firmware that way. I imagine I can see it in service mode somewhere?

            Hi:

Sorry, your right. You can't print out a function list with the fax in an error mode. But based on Toshiba's bulletin concerning your problem I would go ahead and do the firmware up date. The other issue is you need the proper jig and the chip with the firmware on it do the update. If you have that it's easy to do.
