    login name: gmail account
    password: gmail password

    Port Number: 587

    thanks

Be aware that depending on the ISP who is receiving an email from Gmail that it might block the incoming transmission as spam.

You can ask the ISP nicely to "whitelist" your email address but they will likely ignore you.

Occassionally for some reason, I can not figure out, Gmail will occassionally put the actual ASCII characters of the words typed in the To:, From:, & Subject line. The ISP sees this and blocks the transmission as spam.

Also of interesting note, the default DNS settings for Gmail is:

      Primary DNS 8.8.8.8
      Secondary DNS 8.8.8.4

Which models and what firmware levels. Is the gmail account setup correctly on the gmail server? Is ssl turned on (does the machine support it)? Do you have a subject and body information setup on the machine?

e2830c Ver 218 Firmware. SSL enabled.

I have two major ISPs in my area. One shoots down Gmail Scan to Email from the copier more than 75% of the time.

An analysis of the Gmail header details reveal

          From: "=?ISO-8859-1?B?UGFya1BsYWNlUmVhbHR5?="
          <toshibamfpemail@gmail.com>
          Subject: =?ISO-8859-1?B?U2Nhbm5lZCBmcm9tIE1GUC0w?=
          =?ISO-8859-1?B?NzA4NzM2OCAxMC8xNC8yMDEw?=
          =?ISO-8859-1?B?IDE3OjQ3?=

The other ISP, Gmail works perfectly 99% of the time.

I have tried with Subject line filled in "This is a No Reply Email Address".

I have tried with the new Firmware versions in Top Access, Admin, Email tab to Enable/ Disable Subject & Body information.

Gmail just occassional adds in unwanted ASCII characters.

I have asked the question on GMail Support forums and do not really get an answer.

Do you send with a subject in the body of the email. I have seen email servers declare that anything without both a subject and a body are junk and deleted. It could be the port is blocked by the ISP. Also it could be the name of the copier also.

Both Body & Subject lines were left blank. I even tried with them both disabled in Top Access.

I will ask the ISP if they are blocking Port 465 & 587.

              Thanks,

                Thanks,
Try adding a generic body and subject line and see if that works. I have 3 customers that any email without a subject and a body will be deleted as it arrives. Some type of "security" setting they decided to use. The Isp may be using this as well.

I've had it happen a few times where the scan was actually getting to the user's email, but because there was no subject and /or no body, it was going to their "junk" folder.

Its doesn't happen often, but it's confusing when it does.

Gmail settings: (I use them all the time) (good for EB2 and newer 2830c OK)

Start TLS, Accept all Certs without CA <<<Didn't see this mentioned above probably where you went wrong?
                    Login type: Auto or Login
                    server: smtp.gmail.com
                    user: name@gmail.com
                    pass: yourPassword
                    port:587
                    no pop3 before

make sure you fill in your DNS info in the DNS session tab under network settings. or use OpenDNS | Internet Navigation And Security (look to bottom right of page)
find YOUR DNS settings by opening a command prompt and typing "ipconfig /all" minus the quotes.
***IF you don't fill in DNS then you will have to ping smtp.gmail.com and use the IP address listed in the output of the PING command "Reply from X.X.X.X ..." instead of the FQDN. Either way is fine using DNS is a little more robust as DNS servers may be less likely to change than the IP of the SMTP server.

                    hope this helps!
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

Unfortunately I have not found a way to make it work on machines with EB1 or older. I'd like to know if someone has gotten them to work with gmail though! Sorry!
