    [Misc] Toshiba e-STUDIO4520C

Can anyone tell me how this system runs? I am thinking about taking on the line of Toshiba as a vendor? I'm not sure how they run long term with lets say 10k a month for 5-years?

Excellent colour and reliable, no hesitation to recommend this range.

Thanks for the good word. My past experience with Toshibas was that they had issue with their Fuser. When they got older they tended to have issues because of the heat then jamming.

Have you seen these machines go 5-years with no issue?

The e4520c series has been on the Market since Summer 2008. They are very similar to the previous version e3510c series which was on the market for at least three years. The e3510c series had some issues but these were all resolved on the e4520c series.

I have many in the field and dealers really like them for their reliability and high colour quality.

A newer version will come out Summer 2011. Basically the same hardware with a similar but new operating system.

Thanks, this is good to know. I have been selling Sharp for a lotta years. It has always been good to me but I came up against the Toshiba recently. I have a supplier that has been after me to take on the line - from what you're saying here this gives me something to think about.

Again, my thanks for your comments.

we've got one with over 1.5 mill on the clock, only on its second or third fuser rebuild
and many others at around 500K with 0 fuser rebuilds.

low volume also doesn't seem to be a issue

best copier iv worked on in 5 years, apart from CECO error thats a pretty easy fix and only needs to be done once, that has been fixed from factory now. its all just periodic maintenance...

              Cheers Cam

Fusers are amazing in these machines, last forever. 10k a month is a bit light for use, I'd be putting them in places with 3 to 4 times that. They do need EPUs serviced, and the earlier ones had troubles with the mag rollers, they would polish very smooth and not hold the dev in place. There is a kit to rough them up with emery cloth. The newer ones have an improved surface.

Definitely a great copier- unfortunately you have to put an MJ-1101 finisher on them. Worst finisher I've ever worked on! They were problematic from the start and now as they age they are getting worse. Even with the mods you'll get more then average jamming issues and if you ever have to take one apart to fix the many gear wearing issues you'll see how awful they are to work on. Bring back Canon finishers, please!

Sorry about this rant- I've had a lot of calls on them over the last couple of weeks.
Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?

I agree on the 1101's when they run they run but when they break they are a nightmare. And the way they operate looks like a thrashing machine, half the time it's hard to tell what is even causing the problem. I'd rather have the new hanging finishers 1031s than an 1101 honestly. The 4520c series is awesome.
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.
