Toshiba e-studio 280 freezes when printing a PDF

When the customer prints word docs the machine works fine, but as soon as they send a PDF it freezes, then none of the buttons work and the touch screen freezes, and the only way to reset it is to switch off at power button, which then brings up power failure on the screen, they can then power it down properly and switch back on and the machine works fine so long as they don't send another PDF to it. I know bugger all about these machines so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know what firmware is on it, we've never sold any Toshibas, this is just a machine we've picked up the service on, I know next to nothing about them.

        turn off machine
        hold 0+8 while turning on
when it is in test mode
        900 start
        post what you see.

ALso when printing a pdf click advance (at the bottom of printer screen) then click print as image and see if this helps.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

                Hi,
I would not put my money on a firmware issue... you should format the HDD (08-690 set value "2") and check the printing driver installed. If it is an universal printer driver you should check if it is set to print in COLOR not black and white...there are some issues with the universal printer drivers from toshiba.

Make sure you are using the PS3 driver and not the PCL driver. PDF files print better, faster, and without the errors in PS3 that occur when using PCL.

Am I going to lose any of my network settings after formatting?

No, formating will erase any information stored on HDD (scaned files, box files, box stored files, any log data). I never had problems with network settings when I formated the hard disk.

That is the latest firmware. I would try the nic reset (08-693). This will reset the nic to the factory defaults so write down any for re-entry after the reset. I would also check the cable and ports the machine is attached to.
