    e2330c Colour Restriction

How do one restrict printing and copying of colour in e-Studio 2330c? We have one on lease in a networked environment. The customer asked us to restrict colour usage by putting password. When I set user mgt on and create users and password it allows for access to the whole copier.
I know there is a way to do this in Ricoh.

    Department codes/user codes

When you press the "Counter" button select the "No Limit for Black" button.
Attached is the instructions for codes.

      Thanks Meach,
We want some users to have access to colour while others have access to black and white only. Is this possible and how?

Everything you need to know about how to set up department codes is in the app notes he has posted above. Dept Codes will allow you to restrict copy, print, fax, scan as well as setting limits or restrictions on color/black copies. Most settings can be done from TopAccess if the Firmware is up to date. There are updates for FW that eliminate the need for the 08 codes to restrict copy, print, scan, fax access. The app notes are old but the settings are basically unchanged from EB2 to your EB3 machine.
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

You have say 5 users A, B,C, D and F. We want only Aand B to make colour copies and print. Others can only make black and white.
Alternatively, is there a way to create a password for colour printing and copies. Only those with the password can print and copy colour, but they can copy and print black and white.

In the TopAccess when you configure the user codes you can put the limits that you want, you can choose who can make color prints/copies and who can not.
When you make a user, you put the limitations that you want, if the limitation is 0, he can't make color copies/prints.
