    Toshibas new "SE" mono update

Just having a look at the Toshiba US website (Link) , all the mono range now has "SE" on the end of it and it looks like they've had another colour change, but everything else looks the same.

just wondering if anyone has any more info of the changes in the update?
    eg from "e-STUDIO255" to "e-STUDIO255SE"

Australia still have the older model

    Cheers.

Also now includes Enhanced Web browser. Formerly an option for connection to MS Outlook, Sharepoint and other software.

Plus the SE series aggregates at the factory all of the running improvements made to the series over the last two years.

IMO since the functionality of the security features was already built into the machines from the factory (one enabled by 08 and one by a one-time enabler) this is just a ploy to get dealers to pay more for the same machine. Plus it plays on the panic created by the media as far as copier/HDD security goes.
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

And You loose that functionality after SYS board fails and replacing it with new one... Is it true?

I'll never ask if I didn't check user manual, service manual, parts list, BSI/TNI/TAD... web, existing threads.

The Data Overwrite kit is a No Charge add on to the new series. This brings Toshiba product inline with Konica Minolta's now standard security offering. Plus it was easy to do as the previous Enabler was just a key to unlock a feature already in the copier. The media panic is very real in most Government buyers eyes.

ivovb, on the 'old' 255 (non SE) series if you replace a SYS board you can use the one-time enabler again to put the data overwrite feature back on the machine. I believe the enabler can be used up to 30 times... on the same machine only (yes i tried it on another machine and it did not work
