I got this ES 45 with the MJ 1012 finisher and bridge unit on it.
When connected, the bridge unit gives a jam code of E-03 and shows the jam to be in the flip down door of the bridge unit, although there is nothing there, this happens when powering up the machine, finisher does it thing, trays find home position and then the code pops up, I have tried swapping sensors from other units I have found, swapped sensors in the bridge unit, sensor test shows them to be changing state, I even left the brige unit loose, to see if it was in a bind....NO GO

I normally take the springs off those bridge unit sensors. If its the hanging type that is.

It is console type finisher actually but it doesn't matter. Bridge unit is the same.

First disconnect finisher and bridge unit in order to be sure that it is not false indication.

Secondly check the bridge unit connector if it well connected to the machine. Also check the needles of the connector for bending. Or just change bridge unit.

Next step is to change LGC board...

The sensors used on the bridging unit are different to the sensors in the machine. I sometimes have had the sensors fail. I usually change them to fix this fault. The E30 code is jam at power on. hope that helps.

This can also be caused by the fuser exit switch/actuator not telling the machine the paper left.
