    Toshiba E Studio 2500/3500 doesn't recognize finisher

What's the procedure to tell the machine that it has a finisher? I've installed the bridge unit but when the finisher is plugged in it doesn't appear on the screen.
    Thanks,
    Dan

There is a small interface board that fits onto the system board, thats what you need.
Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the restraints

first of all, check if the finisher model is the one for e2500c (MJ1027, MJ1028, MJ1029). then, go to the machine's Top Access and check if there is a finisher installed.

How do I go to machine's top access? Will it show if the interface board is installed or just if the finisher is plugged in (I know it's plugged in, of course.)

on your inernet browser, key in the IP address of the machine. then check under the Option -> Finisher whether it is installed

if its a MJ1101 you'll also have to change a 08 code (cant remember which one) otherwise it will come up with "CFS..."

In the service handbook there doesn't seem to be any 08 codes related to selecting finisher yes/no, that I can see anyway.

Just posting to check if an interface board has been fitted (located top right of the logic board) and what type of finisher you are attaching to the machine ?

It didn't say that I couldn't do it in the manual.

There is an interface board on the lower left side of the logic board. Is there some other setting to tell the machine a finisher has been installed? We took several of these in on trade, and if we try to move the finisher, PCB, and transport deck to a machine that does not have a finisher from one that does (and works,) it throws the 570 or 580 code every time. Service mode 1912 tells the machine if there is the 1101 or 1003 finisher. (The finisher does appear on the screen for a moment before it codes.) We can't find anything in the manuals about installing this option set-up. We know the boards and finisher are OK because they are from another working machine.

Its a bit of a weird fault. Have you tired updating the firmware for the finisher, machine and interface board?
If they all work fine on another machine, have you thought about trying to change the logic board on the machine which throws up the error codes.
It didn't say that I couldn't do it in the manual.

It's not one machine, we have several, and on any machine where we move a the finisher, board, and transfer deck from a working system to one without the option. It seems like there must be another setting, just like the "O" or "1" of service mode 1912 tells the machine which finisher is installed, but for whether or not a finisher is installed...

So the finisher is causing the code on machines which work fine. Have you checked the dip switch settings on the finisher board, or tried changing the finisher logic board?

Just to clarify, the machines all work ok until the finisher is attached and the code 1912 is set to 1 for the mj-1101.
It didn't say that I couldn't do it in the manual.

Yes, except we had the 1912 set to 0.
I changed it to 1. and now it works.
                          Thanks.
Also, is Ginko Buloba supposed to make your brain work better? because I'm gonna try that next.
