You do not need to install any software for scanning unless you want twain (pull) scanning. the copier will scan to file or email (push)

The easiest scanning is to file share which is the copier hard drive, simply click Start/Run on your PC and input \\ copier ip address, eg \\10.1.1.20 or \\192.168.1.100 etc. there will be a folder called file share this is where your scans will be, on the copier press Scan/File select MFP Local and then scan.

Woops just realised you said Vista, click Start and input \\ IP address into the search window.
Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the restraints

If its the full .exe program that you downloaded and are trying to install, you must install the program as administrator.
Right click on the .exe file and select the run as administrator option.

hi sdrawkcab thanks for the response.

I logged in to my laptop as administrator user and I tired the run command you suggested. It started to run but I got an error message saying "not accessible. you might not have permission to use this network resource. contact administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. the account is not authorizsed to log in from this station."
Ive turned on all the sharing options in the network sharing centre but no luck. Any suggestions to get access to the MFD?

Thanks also to Dog_man but yes i was logged on as administrator when I tried running the exe. the exe runs and tries to install but does not install.

Open the web page for the copier, log into admin (user blank password 123456).under scan to file disable digital signature.you should be able to access the scan path through the start/run instruction given in the earlier post

hi ss12 thanks for the reply. greatly appreciated. I'm not sure how to open the web page for the copier..? Is this web page set up through the CD/driver software? I have not been able to get the driver/CD software to install. Or is there another way to get to the copier webpage? Or can you change the setting you mentioned on the copier itself..?

                Hi again ss12
I managed to connect to the copier via putting the ip into the web browser to access Top Access. I cannot see the setting you have described in there though in the admin section or the save to file section or the network section. when I Scan to e filing, the scan shows up in the efiling section however I cannot access or save off the scan. When I scan to file, nothing shows up in the web browser under the scan section at all.....any further ideas....
