    Loading e255 f/w on e255SE

We accidently loaded e255 f/w on a e255SE model. Copier accepted the f/w, loaded system, got to HDD and came up with failure message and then were told to reboot and try again. On reboot copier wouldn't start. Green LED by the power button came on and red LED just flashed. Couldn't get into 08 or assist mode. We ended up ordering the jig to restore the copier. Has anyone else had this problem? As far as I know you can carry all the f/w for eBridge 2 and 3 on the same stick as long as you've got the "mentusb.o" file in the root. Does this mean there is a chance the SE series will grab the wrong f/w? I'm just wondering if our experience was a fluke or are we to expect this issue? It seems a little frustrating that they couldn't just have a message that says: "wrong f/w" instead of accepting f/w but taking out the machine. Maybe I expect too much.
Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?

I tend to keep all my firmware on my notebook. I format my usb then put firmware on. Then load it on to the machine. We have had people do similar things in the past. Easiest solution was the above., just to be safe.

File names are pretty similar to, might be the reason. Could of selected the first file it came to. We didn't look into it to much as we didn't want to keep using the jigs on the machine.
It didn't say that I couldn't do it in the manual.

I do the same as you- only one f/w at a time on my USB stick. I guess my issue is that I've loaded wrong f/w on a machine before but went into assist mode, cleared NVRAM flags, and started over with no issues. It's going to be really easy to mistake e225 and e255SE f/w and I'd hate to think everytime it happens we have to rent the recovery jigs. I know this is more of a rant then a question, but the rental isn't cheap and I can see this happening again.

In the U.S. they use the same firmware.

Now that's how I would have designed it! I guess in Canada we need to keep our f/w more complicated. It keeps life interesting...

we learned from our past mistake. we have designated one person who downloads the fw from toshiba site and we double check them before we transfer to usb. we advised all our technicians of the implications in case we loaded a wrong fw. we also have jigs and labtool programmer in case the usb fails.
