    CF90 on a 3500c

I believe this code is a laser shutter error, but can someone tell me how to repair this? We mainly service Canon so I'm not that familiar with this copier, but would love to keep this customers business....especially in this economy!

To counteract CF90 (laser optical unit shutter) errors, the finishing level for the stud of the motor bracket has been improved so that the gear of the shutter motor can make smoother vertical movement.
    Detail

The modified bracket has been applied to machines manufactured since May 2008.

I'm currently fighting this intermittant code, but it's on an Estudio 2830c. Toshiba tech support said that the shutter motor bracket update was unessacary because it was for the previous 3510c series and my copier would already have it. My CF90 code is intermittant. Sometimes 3 or 4 times a day and sometimes once every couple of days..iN 03/417 mode, the shutter will operate fine. Has anyone had to change the shutter motor itself ? or the shutter sensor? It's not an easy task pulling this unit as i have already done it once..It would be great to have some input before I dive in again.???

I've had this fault a few times. The fix was to remove the shutter assembly (pain in the arse), and to stick some mylar down on the parts where the shutter slides on the plastic so that it slides smoother. I've done this 4 or 5 times with success.
