ReRite 6.2.0.44 - BarCode Batch Seperation

Anybody have much experience with this? I have a client with four filing cabinets stuffed with Customer paper documents he wants to Scan into Searchable PDFs. Each Customer has a manila folder with 100s of pieces of paper in it. ReRite BarCode Seperation would seem to be a great idea to automatically seperate each pile of paper into seperate electronic files. I have tried the BarCode provided in ReRite Users Guide and several other BarCodes I found for free on the internet. I can not get ReRite to recognize the BarCodes. I have attached a Screen shot of how I am setting up ReRite. I can scan to the Inpath Folder, OK. Any ideas?

From my understanding, Barcode Batch Separation was introduced in Re-Rite v7.

Sorry, I take that back. I just downloaded v6.2.0.44 again and had a look.

I found this in the manual and it might be an idea to try and setup a template on your machine which reflects this to make sure that Re-Rite is working properly and that you have you CFG file setup correctly.

      expenses{English}{PDF3,n,,}{%f%d%t}{2_fred@samplec o.com}{B 12345}.tif
This English file shall be split for every barcode found that has the value 12345 andeach produced split will be converted to a PDF3 file having the filename of
      n_expenses Feb 27 2009 16-43-31.556.pdf
      , where n is the document/split
number, and each split shall be sent to the email address fred@sampleco.com

Ok, so I did some testing and it would appear that Code 39 Barcode font isn't picked up by Re-Rite.

I downloaded the barcode separater page from Toshiba and tried with that and everything then works.

Make sure that you set your barcode separation number to 123456789864

I gave that Bar Code a try and it worked right away so obviously the problem was with the Bar Code that I was using.

This is a nice feature where in a big stack of paper documents, you can physically place as many Bar Code pages as you need to seperate Searchable PDFs into individual files. You can scan all pages as duplex and use the omit Blank page feature.

I find it takes a little long for ReRite to process all of the pages.

          Thanks!

It still doesn't take as long to process as it would to re-type the documents. lol
