    HDD CLONING FOR COPIERS

    Hello.
Is it possible to clone (make a copy) of a copier hdd to another new hdd. I have a 352 down and I'm having problems loading f/w on the new hdd. I have access to another working 352. I'm thinking that it should be possible to replicate one hdd to another using software with a destop or laptop computer. Has anyone done this b4? Pls help with how to. Thanks in advance

    Re: HDD CLONING FOR COPIERS

You can do this, but your first problem is that you must make sure that the HDD that you are cloning is running the exact same version firmware as the machine that you are trying to put the HDD into.

While most of Toshiba's firmware is kept on the HDD, there are parts that update boards directly and if there is a mismatch between the firmware version on the boards as compared to the firmware version on the HDD, then you are going to get into a world of trouble.

To clone the HDD's, use a decent cloning software like Acronis. While it isn't free, it is reliable.

If you are having trouble loading the firmware on the new HDD, then make sure that you have gone through Assist Mode and partitioned the HDD and then do an 08-690-2. If any of these fail, then make sure that your jumper setting on the HDD is set to CS (Cable Select) or Master. If you are still having trouble, then try another HDD again.

If you don't know about Assist Mode, then I suggest that you get a Service Handbook for this model (find Manuals4You for service manuals) and read about it as this mode should be used with caution.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.
