    Strange tray issue

I have a customer that has a strange tray issue on an es3510c. I have seen this before but can't remember the fix. If they close one of the tray 1 and leave tray 2 open they can use tray 1. If they close both trays they both don't work. It's a long drive there and if I need a part I want to make sure I have it before I go.

Thanks for the help. It's killing me that I can't remember this one, I remember seeing it in the past but just can't remember the fix today.

Sounds like a broken lift motor, Its one unit for both trays but the gears strip or break, very common.

The motor turn one way to lift a tray, and the other way to lift the 2nd tray...bad motor and/or gears should cause a tray malfunction code...but he's saying the trays are greyed out (as in not available to change paper size...)..I've seen fax jobs stuck in memory cause this symptom...the MFP wants to put the fax on a certain size and will not allow changes in the tray config until the job is printed or deleted..might be a secure print job waiting also...I belive that if either of these conditions exist, you are prevented from doing the color calibration through the control panel...Emujo
