    Finishers and E580 codes on E4511, E451C, E281C

    I have a E 4511 with an MJ 1022 finisher. I want to put it on my E281C that had a hang on finisher at one time. However it gives me a E580 code upon turn on with the 1022 installed. I checked the small finisher jumper board and they are the same numbers, made in China, and Japan. They both give the same result.
    I did some research and saw a reference to a 08 code to reset something to 0. The finisher works fine on the 4511. Anyone have the answer? I've run into this before and gave up.

    The 281C does take that finisher...my guess is the problem is in the IPC board...it may be the same pt#, but the EEPROM was burned with 4511C firmware. If you can download the IPC board firmware and flash it, you might resolve this...takes a special cable, and jig (if I remember correctly). Emujo

      I tried both IPC boards. The one on the 4511, and the one in the 281C. With the 1022 they both give the same error. This is getting to be a real pain that you can't even change finishers anymore without a firmware update. So basically whatever the machine comes with used cannot be changed without special jigs, firmware updates, or some other procedure out of the hands of anyone except an authorized dealer.
      So the two 281C copiers I have that had finishers on when I bought them must be fitted with the same finisher or E580 occurs. No one has any idea what firmware was updated with what features. This is progress?
      Well thanks for the info. I now realize when dealing in used aftermarket equipment, it is what it is and ain't worth trying to change it to any other configuration. I guess I'll try and find a baseline firmware version already installed with working options, and either leave them as they are, or remove them.
      If anyone else has any input on this I would welcome it.

        Try changing 08-1912 from zero to 1 or vice versa and see if that helps

          Thanks. I'll give that a try. What is that supposed to do? Any idea? I can't find any listing in my manuals for that code.

            I believe that code was intro'd on the 3510C series..to let you switch between the 1022 (old finisher) and the new (1023???)..Been a while since we were a Toshiba dealer...all that info just slipping away..If the code is not in the 281C manual, it won't help..Emujo

              If you get this error code, check code 08-1912 and be sure that it is set for the type of finisher installed.
              0 = MJ-1022/1023/1024
              1 = MJ-1101
