        fuser reset

open front cover, 08+pwr on, 400 to 0
replace female connector /thermo fuse/thermistor every time fuser rebuilt

Sorry to butt into this thread to ask about a different code, but I have the toshiba e studio 5500 c (is it the same copier) and I get the code sc 142. Does anyone know what that means? THANKS in advance!

This is not the same machine. An E550 is an older black & white machine where a 5500c is a color copier.

Don't overlook the rear bayonet connector where the fusing section meets the rear frame. The connector is spring loaded so the springs get weak over time and don't make good contact. There is a bulletin # DIG-88 dated 7/29/03 that outlines the fix for this intermittent problem. A repair kit, p/n 6GAC46KIT00 KIT-C46, includes a spacer and two springs. This kit extends the reach of the socket towards the front of the machine allowing better contact. Hopes this helps.
