    e356 with GD1250NA not working

I have a new install of an e356 (V1212 Firmware) with a GD1250NX Fax Board. The copier's copy/print and scan features work A-OK. Key areas on the LCD display for the fax board are greyed out (Input Fax#, Input @, Multi, Pause, Back Space and Send Keys).

I have reseated all of the connectors on the fax board to make sure they are tight.

I have reinitialized the fax board to no positive effect.

I have done a 08-9030 to Update the NVRAM Flags to no effect.

I have shut down and restarted the copier to no effect. I do notice upon power up the effected LCD buttons briefly light up before they grey out.

I have ordered a replacement fax board but I am not confident this will solve the problem when it arrives.

Multiple copiers including this one were set up using a Clone file. The other copiers do not have this problem.

The fax board is shown as installed in Top Access.

I can hear Dial tone from the Monitor button.

The Fax Name and Fax number are programmed.

I am thinking about updating the copier firmware to V1500 and trying the new LCD button under Admin "Restore to Factory defaults" after I do a print out of all of the copier Function list settings.

    Any ideas?

I will try those codes. Thanks!

Yesterday, I borrowed a GD1250NX fax board from another nearby copier. No luck, the problem remained. I no longer think the fax board is the problem.

When I did put in the loaner board, I did reinitialize the fax board. I also reset the copier to factory defaults, reloaded the copier's firmware, did a Clear 1, Clear 2, Clear 3, 08-9083 & 08-9030.

I also put the copier on a good quality Surge Protector.

I tried all of those codes but they were all set to default values.

I then had the thought of registering a Fax # in the Address Book to see if it would transmit and it did.

To me, this means, the fax board is working A-OK but some setting in either Top Access, 08 Codes, Fax Codes or somewhere else is preventing the user from entering fax #s on the fly.

        The hunt continues.

I would mention the copier is set up to search for email addresses via LDAP.

I think you are getting close to cracking this, As i know there is a setting in top-access to restrict scan to e-mail to addresses that are only stored in the address book.

setting of previous codes in previous post
08 SettingmodeSystem Option FAX 3848 Restriction onAddress Bookdestination setting0 0~1 SYS Availability of destination selection from the AddressBook is switched as one of FAX mistransmissionprevention functions when setting FAX destinations. 0:
          OFF (Disabled) 1: ON (Enabled)

          or if retricted using ladp

SettingmodeSystem Userinterface8704 Restriction ofEmail/FAX address0 0~1 SYS This code is used to restrict Email/FAX Address toLDAP server specified via TopAccess. When the valueof this code is set to "1", the address cannot be inputdirectly and registered from the local address book.0: No restriction
1: Looking up in external LDAP only

In the end, a local technician was on a Service Training course for the e2050c and learned about a new 6-Clear Mode that cleared the SRAM. After reinitializing the copier, the fax function worked fine.

I can only suspect the base root of the problem was that we installed V1220 Firmware into a V1500 copier from a Clone file.
