    e2050c with SNMP Communication Issues

I have a new e2050c install with latest V1370 firmware and I am having problems with the Print driver on a single PC. In the same office, the print driver will install A-OK on other PCs.

The customer had a Canon Inkjet printer connected via a USB cable to this same troublesome Win 7 Pro PC. I completely uninstalled the Canon driver and any Utilities going as far as the Registry to remove any entries. A review of the apps installed on this PC does not appear to present any issues. I have tested the PC with any firewalls or Anti virus programs turned off. The PC has had a complete virus scan and the PC was re-imaged at my request.

The print driver has been tested as both a RAW and LPR IP printer. The PC can print a single test page to the copier. The PC can print a document to MS Word but when you press Print Properties, the PC is non responsive.

The basic problem is that the Print properties do not work. For example, you cannot select Black or colour printing or any feature in the print driver. In the print driver, there is an area on the left side, which typically displays an image of the copier. In this case, the image is two linked Os.

I have reinstalled the Print driver and used other vendors print drivers to test but the same result.

I believe that SNMP communications is somehow blocked within the PC.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: e2050c with SNMP Communication Issues

If you are concerned with the SNMP communication on that PC, then try installing a SNMP Walk / Discovery tool on the effected PC and try talking to a switch or router or something. Because SNMP is two way, this should prove if the SNMP communication is blocked on that PC.

The other thing is to install the same software onto a laptop and place that on the network and test the SNMP communication to the problematic PC. This test is again two way, but you are having a different node on the network initiate the SNMP talk.

If either of these tests fail, you should then be able to figure out what the problem is.

The concerning bit I have about this is that I don't think that your issue is SNMP related as Toshiba drivers don't require SNMP, but SNMP does make it easier for driver configuration. Generally if your driver is having problems displaying the properties, then you have an issue with the driver or the system. You said that the PC was re-imaged and the problem still existed so I would try installing the driver as a different user to start with to see if it is just a corrupted user profile that is causing the issue.

You might even find that the issue could be that the PC may have an issue deeper down at the hardware level which is causing your issue. Specially seeing as it is the only PC that is having the issue.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

Thanks for your helpful hints which I will try.

As I have already spent way too much time on trying to troubleshoot this single PC, as a fall back position, if I can not soon resolve this issue, I will offer to give the customer a new Toshiba laptop at No Charge to use as a desktop replacement for the troublesome PC.

Fortunately, there is enough profit in this new install to afford it.

Re: e2050c with SNMP Communication Issues

In the end, I took Owl's advise and created a new user profile on the PC. The print driver worked perfectly. So somehow, the original user profile has become corrupted.

After, I shared a couple of folders from the original user profile to the new profile, the customer seems happy to finally have the issue resolved.

Thanks for letting us know what resolved the issue.

After reading this, I did come up with one other idea though and this is again driver related.

I don't know if you knew, but when you install a Toshiba driver, it creates a folder within the user's profile which contains some things like the user's quick set setups and so. I have had to delete this folder as well as manually strip out the driver and reinstall to get PC's talking properly in other cases.

Maybe the Toshiba folder was corrupt in your case as it isn't removed when you delete the driver and strip it out of the OS.

I did try and remove the Toshiba driver from the original user profile several times. I went as far as to completely delete it from the Server properties and from the registry. I will search for that folder.

At any rate, my install woes seem over now, the Owl's suggestion to create a new user Profile and be happy seems to have worked. The customer has accepted the "work around".

I did eventually find the folder Owl was referring to in C:Users\Toshiba\estudiox.

I will be sure to delete these files in the future.

After taking Owl's good advice about creating a new user profile on the one problem Win 7 Home Premium PC, I finally got the install complete and made the customer happy. On the flip side I had to donate two hours of my time to transfer over the all of their browser favorites, set up a new Outlook account and transfer their desk top favorites. Somehow, these tasks were not described in the service manual of my copier .

Thanks also to Youtube and Google for providing me some instruction on how to do these tasks.
