    estudio 720 troubleshoot help

Few days ago my estudio 720 stopped making copies. Had a tech come in and I think he formatted the HDD (based on code 690, as i posted below, and from my online research) as I have not turned it off. The displays shows the following:

    100% 690
    SYSTEM MODE WAIT
    ...............2..............2

Well the tech never came back and tells me to find a toshiba authorized repair person. I need this copier working ASAP and wondering if someone can help me on the next step(s)/procedure(s) to take to see if I can get it back up and running without waiting any longer.

if you hit the start key it should format the hdd. You will need to reload the firmware if you do this. If you turn off and on then it will not format the hdd and should come back to the same state it was before hand.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

It looks like he did push start...display shows "WAIT"..Sounds like HDD is not functional...You could try cycling power and posting any new error codes that pop up. (You must hold down the "C" and "8" keys to display code). My guess is you need new HDD and firmware update to recover from this. Hope you didn't pay the tech up front. Emujo

Depending on the size off the hdd, it might take a while. once finished it will tell you to reboot machine. \
You do not need to re-load firmware when performing 08-690. Although if its equipped with a fax unit you will lose the one touch addresses.

Also a 08 694 will check and display bad sectors on the HDD. (also takes a few min.)

              Re: estudio 720 troubleshoot help

It's been in that 100% WAIT for 2-3 days. Today I pressed start and nothing happened so I shut off and restarted and it's back to the regular copy screen(where it shows copy machine but the different trays) however, as before, it says "wait warming up" and it never says "ready". When I put a paper in to copy and press start nothing happens. Any help regarding this? Did not pay copy repair guy up front.

You will need a new HDD and to have the Firmware reloaded for th machine to work.
