Toshiba 3510c - Transfer Belt shredded

So, I posted a little while ago and got lots of help to get my RADF working again.

But just today after doing a few hundred copies, a weird noise started, followed by a jam.

The weird noise was the transfer belt tearing itself to shreds. On first google, this is a $2500 part.

There is no way to repair the transfer belt is there?

    Thanks,
    Sam

Unfortunately there's no way to repair the belt.
Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?

Thanks mate, I thought as much.

I guess I will sell the copier for parts.

Hold up there mate, these TBU's can be rebuilt with about $400-$500 worth of parts. You can get a belt on its own and the belt cleaner kit and 2nd trans roller.

For $2500 you could buy yourself a later model S/H Box - someone is having a go at you mate, the belt is about $250Au and the cleaning blade about $30Au.
The Belt itself would probably last forever, it is the rubber strips on the inside that perish and stick to the rollers, when the TBU starts to drive it puts pressure/stress on the Belt and eventually something has to give, a local Dealer may be able to sell you the Parts or maybe try a different Google Site.

Canonbundy is correct you can just replace the belt and transfer blade which is fairly easy to do. The transfer belt part# is 6LE28539000 and the transfer belt blade # is 6LE94755000. Hope this helps.

Thanks Jonezy and canonbundy for the info. I just saw the whole part at about $2.5k at precisionroller.com so I thought that is what I was up for. So thank you for letting me know that it can be fixed.

Thanks sagar4 for the part numbers. I will contact Toshiba for a quote.

In my haste/frustration, I seem to have damaged one of the TBU pressure hooks. Is the 'TBU cleanner pressure hook assembly' available as a separate part, and would you have the part number sagar4?

                    Thanks,
                    Sam

                      Front hook 6LE28288000
                      Rear hook 6LE28289000

Make sure you remove the cleaner before trying to remove the transfer belt unit. Also be sure to have the hooks extended fully when you re-install otherwise you cant get the cleaner back in and you may break them again.

Well Toshiba have quoted me for the transfer belt @ $630 ex GST.

Now I need to decide if it's worth it. Thanks again everyone for your help.

Well Sambo mate, it still seems a bit expensive but I guess it depends where you are located, if the CQ was ok before the Belt shredded it might be worth the $, the K2s can be a labour & cost liability if you are not familiar with the Unit. The reason why the Hooks break is incorrect removal of the T/fer Unit. You MUST have the BLUE handle in DOWN position BEFORE removing the CLEANER UNIT, you must then LIFT the HANDLE UP to remove the T/FER UNIT and the reverse applies when reinstalling but make sure before installing the Cleaner assy that the HANDLE is DOWN and the CLEANER slides UNDER the BLACK GUIDE, good luck with it though 'cos they are not a bad machine.

I usually have to get my parts direct from Toshiba, so I have to pay what they say. I try to get parts overseas, but they don't always have what I need. And in this case I can't find the belt separate anywhere cheap.

I have had some PM's regarding some belts though.

Thanks for the instructions regarding the removal of the unit - I have done it before, successfully, I was just pissed off so I didn't do it in the right order this time. I'd just got the RADF working again, and when I saw the transfer belt hanging out the access panel on the right, I wasn't in the best mood!
