Scan to Email Blocked on e195

I have a new install with a e3540c and a e195/Print kit/Scan kit on the same network both with latest firmware. I was able to get the e3540c to scan to email in minutes but the e195 with the identical scan configuration refuses to connect after much trial and error. I moved the e195 to use the same network drop as the e3540c but no change.

Both copiers are on the same Subnet and Gateway and are programmed for the same DNS.

I have tested unsuccessfully with DDNS on and off.

I can view Top Access from the e195 and print from the e195 A-OK.

The journal report indicates a 7I which means the connection to the SMTP server timed out after approx 3 minutes of the LCD displaying processing and temporarily locking the copier.

I noticed in this network environment that when I tried to plug my laptop into a network cable drop I could not connect to the internet although all other devices seem to work fine.

    Any ideas?

Check with the customer IT department. This sounds like a proxy setting issue or intruder software issue. If it is intruder software then they need to allow the e195 access to the network. That would explain why your laptop cannot get to the internet. Same with the proxy settings, the big copier can automatically pick them up but the e195 cannot.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

Is there a password needed or a password expired?

The SMTP server that I am moving email traffic through does not require any Authentication. I have used this server frequently with good effect.

Based upon the first suggestion I have sent an email to the 3rd party IT Dept. They were on site with me during the install and saw the problem but never offered any specific suggestions about Intruder software, proxy email servers, firewalls or antivirus software. Nor did I ask.

One thing I did not yet try was to substitute the IP address of the email server into the SMTP Server address line in Top Access rather than the full name.

Have you entered DNS settings if you're using server name.I suspect you have but sometimes it's the simple things that you miss

Yes, I entered the DNS settings and tried multiple settings including 8.8.8.8 .

I emailed the IT Mgr my concerns. He logged into the customers network remotely over the weekend and cannot see the e195 although he can see the e3540c. I replied that I programmed the copier to be in power save mode at that time but you should still be able to see the copier. He replied and I never thought to ask or look for but the copier is plugged into old hub located underneath a dusty desk and shared with another IP device.

I will revisit the customer early next week.
