E Studio 4511 CEBO Error.

This error occurs only when doing colored copies. The clutch is out 180 degrees when it errors out. When I do an 03 free run you can hear it make an error. When I tried to adjust the timing using 05-499 code, there is no number there to adjust. I cleaned the timing sensor in the front of the machine.I know where the clutch is.
Is that all there is left to try? Replacing the clutch?

There were 2 fixes for this way back when....

1 replace the front cam with a newer beefier version part 6LA4864300 FKIT-DEV-LIFT- 3511

2 update to the new lift clutch in the back part 6LA31950000

I presume that you know that this is a black dev unit lift error message and not an alignment error.
With as old as this is I would push for a new machine and parts are no longer available.

I'm aware of what the error is. I have several of these units that I made a couple out of. I hadn't run into this error before. The clutch isn't east to get to but will probably solve the problem. Was hoping for a magic bullet rather than effort. Thanks for the input. Just because they won't run with windows 7 doesn't mean they should be thrown away. Although the 451C is much easier to work on.

Check the black dev lift sensors. If there is a lazy tech looking after the machine, they can get dirty (i for the shaft and 1 for the plate). It is very rare on these machines that the clutch is the problem. Have the black dev drive gears been changed recently ? as the dev lift plate need the springs to be put on the correct way, diff spring for front and rear.

I have seen only one sensor, in the front of machine. Where is the other located? Maybe that's the problem. It sure would be easier than changing the clutch. It only happens when doing colored prints or copies. Black is never a problem.

I am wrong, i though this was a post about a 451c, come home after a few drinks last night. Mr Spock is right, you will need to replace the clutch at the back of the machine and the cam at the front. Those sensors which i mentioned are on the 4511 to so might be worth a check. The one you can see times the cams and the actuator is attached to the shaft. The other is situated below that and detects the movement of the plate (up and down).
