    E Studio 161 F5-02 error code

I know this is an exposure lamp fault code. However I don't believe it's the lamp. If it is, how in the world does it come out? Is there a hidden thermal fuse somewhere? Anyone seen this before? I know this machine is actually a Sharp copier. An ARM 160. We just don't see these florescent
lamps go bad. I guess it could happen.

I also didn't had bad lamps on these machines. You can test the lamps from the service mode, if i remember correctly.

How do you enter the service mode on this model? It's a relabled Sharp. Sharp procedure doesn't work because there is no pause key.

The initial "C" key ->AUTO/TEXT/PHOTO key ->"C" key ->AUTO/TEXT/PHOTO key; sequence must be performed quickly with no more than a second between key strokes.
        What you need is :
Press 05 -> Start- that's how you enter the main code
        The Subcode you need is:
        03 Copy lamp lighting check

        Good luck.

I changed the whole lamp assy and it still doesn't light. Must be the main board?

Have you checked the harness between the lamp unit and the pwb? If so, than your next move, according to the manual is to change the pwb. My advice : if you must really fix this copier, than buy a used toshiba 161 and get the parts from that one. A new lamp unit AND pwb are really expensive.
