    [Misc] Toshiba Estudio 160 lan

Hello, would any body be able to help me with this?

I have inherited the e160 Toshiba printer. I have it connected to my network via a lan.

I have a couple of problems (sometimes),
sometimes the printer works fine with printing through the net work and other times my computer says there is a printing error.

Ie today: it was printing fine then I didn't use it for a bit and then when i went to use it again, my computer told me an error occurred, I tried pinging it but it could not find the host destination.

I turned it off and on a few times still no luck, even wheeled it about a bit, re connected the lan - nothing.
Then about 5 minutes ago it gave me a test page that i asked for an hour ago.

Other times, it just takes forever to print anything. I send it a job and it takes a few minutes for it to come through.

I'm thinking it might need more memory but I don't know what type it takes.

It has a memory chip expansion slot for a laptop size chip.

All that to say, does anybody know why the printer would act like this and does anybody know what type of memory it takes?

Cheers for the help in advance

Those would never work right for me. The network was downright flakey. I would upgrade to anything newer.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

Generally , I agree, But that's not an option for me right now, hence why I'm trying to figure this out.

It is well known issue. It happens after power save. First You need latest firmwares for PCL and network card. Also You need latest driver -check toshiba.com. Even then there is a chance problem to comeback time to time. So You can try stop the power save and check if there is a problem.

Additional memory is 64 or 128 MB. Not sure for type.

I'll never ask if I didn't check user manual, service manual, parts list, BSI/TNI/TAD... web, existing threads.
