    [Misc] Department codes

We recently purchased a eStudio 3555c unit and I have been working to have it set up for the easiest usage. Due to the cost of color, I have put in department codes so that it doesn't print in color without a code, however you don't nee a code for b/w. This setup works great when we print from our computers. However, when anyone goes to the machine to scan it always asks for the department code. If you copy it does NOT ask for the code. The machine is set for black as the default for both scan and copy.

Is there a setting I am missing somewhere to make it only ask for that code when it is printing color?

    Thanks for any input.

Login to Top Access, go Administration/Security and you can change the settings there to enable/disable codes for various functions.

Thank you, I don't know how I missed that one. Maybe because it could be on the machine and set automatically when you set up the dept code.

In the older Toshibas it was an 08 setting. 08-620 through 624 enable/disabled the requirement for a department code for scan/fax/ect...By default, they were valid and you had to enter a code to scan or fax. Emujo

Try 08-8980.This either enables or disables(0 or 1) the scan access when using department codes.
