Why would this machine suddenly need to do an auto calibration before and after every black and white or color copy, and after and before every black and white or color print? The copy quality is beautiful. Color or black. There are no errors. Anyone run into this before? It has a new photodrum, black developer, and transfer belt. None has made any difference. Still auto calibrates. Why?

Their is setting for the number of sheets prior to next cal, but I doubt that is it. Try reloading firmware and formatting HDD and running initialization and gamma adjustment. We have had a lot of niggling software problems like this that have been resolved easily. This is obvious but make sure everything is clean inside the machine, if shortcuts are made with this model your bound for trouble!

You have stated a new Drum & Black Dev has been installed? If so did you let the machine know this???
Hold 6 + Start > P/on (wait for beep sound) > 2 > enter - highlight Drum/Cleaner > Reset. This initialises the Potential for the New Drum P/off.
Hold 0 + 5 P/on > enter 204, this will initialise the Black Developer (takes about 3 mins) > when displayed press enter.
Perform a Service Mode Calibration as follows.
Enter 396 Start > 4 > FAX Button ( place the Black Rectangle of the Printed page to the L/H side of the Platen Glass) > enter 1642 > ENTER/OK.
Enter 47 > FAX Button ( place the Black Rectangle of the Printed page to the L/H side of the Platen Glass) > enter 1000 > OK.
Enter 49 > FAX Button ( place the Black Rectangle of the Printed page to the L/H side of the Platen Glass) > enter 1002 > OK.
P/off then on all should be good as the machine knows where IT is at.Comment

Re: E Studio 281C constantly calibrating.
I had no intentions of messing with the HDD or the firmware. I did follow the procedure for DV calibration and the gamma adjustments. I did not do all of the things you have laid out. I will. This is the information I was hoping to acquire. Thanks for your input. I'll post the result of my efforts and your suggestions.Comment
