    E 451C C580 error.

Why would a perfectly function MJ-1023 work perfectly on a E4511 but errors out on a E451C with a C580. The 451C had a different finisher on it to start with. It worked fine too. Why can I not install an MJ-1023 on a 451C. There are no board problems. What is up?

either the firmware on the finisher interface pwb (mounted on the lgc pwb) is for the wrong finisher or the wrong pwb.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

So if I don't want to screw with firmware, I need to know what finisher was on the machine. I should be able to tell by the brackets I took off. Google TONOPAH Az and that's where this is. So in your opinion if I bring the finisher model that WAS installed it should work. Firmware updating is like suicide out in the sticks.

I tried taking the finisher board from the 4511 and installed it on the 451C but it just errored out also. Firmware controls what finisher is attached? You gotta be kidding me. Package only deals from now on then. Things simply don't attach anymore even if they are compatible.

How many finishers did the 451C have? A hang on, MJ 1023, a hole punch wop te do, and what else?

I forgot to mention....in the display the MJ-1023 is visible before C580. With the board from the 4511, the display shows a hang on finisher before it errors out. Just sayin'.

The Toshiba's are supposed to automatically switch between finisher types without having to input any codes, but sometimes I've seen where this didn't happen. Check 08-1912 and make sure it's set for the right type of finisher. According to manual it should be set to 0 for a MJ1023.
Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?

Firmware on the FINISHER needs to be upgraded probably to an MJ1030.
That is done via a jig on the FINISHER Main PCB.

I reset 08-1912 to zero, it was at one. Same result C580. I have no way of updating the firmware. Don't know how. So basically the finisher is junk. It will only work on a 4511. There is no way for me to know what finisher will work because I don't know what firmware version they are.

                    The MJ 1030 doesn't fit a 451C.

Latest version for MJ1023/24 is 29. There is a board call the IPC Board is plug in to the logic board. Is a small square pcb some of these bds are not compatible to some finishers. They need to be upgraded.

I found out it had an MJ 1101 sorter attached to it. I have one of those. When I checked 08 -1912 there were only two choices. 1023 or 1101. Well 1023 won't work so I'll change 08/1912 back to a one and pray it communicates. Obviously with all the feedback this is not a simple change of finishers. It used to be. Funny thing is I looked up the specs on the 451C and they don't even list the 1101 as an option.
Thanks for all the input. I didn't know about 08/1912.
