Toshiba 2500c Firmware install on new HDD

    Hi,

I have replaced a faulty 80GB on my 2500C with a new 500GB. Throughout this ordeal, I have also replaced the SATA cable, reseated the memory, cleared NVRAM flags and repartitioned the hard drive (more than once) as per instructions.

The problem: When I installed the firmware after repartitioning, it progressed up to the point as seen in the attached photo. The screen stayed like that with no activity for over 18 hours, so I cycled the power. Result: machine started to boot up as normal. then error "hd sys update failed".

Then I installed the firmware again, this time without repartitioning, and it completed with "success" message, but after cycling the power I get "can not start application".

When I cycle the power, the copier seems to make all the usual proper noises.

Could anyone offer some insight on what the problem might be, or have any suggestions to fixing this machine?

    Many thanks in advance!!

I think that had a 320gb limit but cannot verify that at the moment.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

I believe your hard drive is to large. Also what you can do is select only the ones that are working and then go back in to firmware update and do only the HDD by its self.

Possibly the HDD may be too large however try the following.
        Clear+3 > P/ON > 3 - Update ONLY the SYS & HDD at this stage - if successful then Engine & Scanner.
        08-947 > 1119 & 693.

        Cliff.

Thank you for your replies. I will try updating in parts as suggested, but it's more likely I need to chase up a smaller hard drive.

I'll post back here when I've done this.

I didn't realise it would be so difficult locating a small SATA hard drive!

I finally managed to track down a 120GB Seagate, and, lo and behold, the firmware installation completed smoothly and a lot faster than before, although I had to do an 80-690 afterwards to fix an F100 error.

We now have a functioning copier again!

I'd like to thank all the kind and helpful members who responded to my thread!

Glad to hear you got it sorted out. And thanks for posting the solution. Too many times we don't hear the end result and don't know what the fix was.
