    scan to email

    Hi There
i have just set up scan to email on the new e257 everythong routes correctly but when their software fetches the email the attachment is blank. when i send to an email account that you open with outlook or any mail program it is all ok, then if i forward that to their email address and their software opens it all is ok. They had a toshiba e232 and that worked 100% has anyone got any ideas as to what i can do to rectify this
    thanks
    David

    Re: scan to email

Could be something silly like the machine not being a trusted sender or something.

Are you using the exact same email on the new machine as what was in the old machine?

When you say the attachment is blank, do you mean that you can open the attachment and there is nothing in there or that the attachment is missing all together?

Does it do this for all file types (PDF, JPEG, TIFF, XPS)?
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

      Re: scan to email

What is the maximum size of the email/attachment setting in the MFD?
Most email size is clipped to around 2-3 MB unless it set larger in configuration settings.
Try the email divide and send options.

yes the attachment is there but its blank, ive tried tiff pdf and still the same there is no limit on the size as well.
all the settings are the same on new machine as on old machine. its weird as when i send it to my email address and open it with outlook i can see attachment. they are using software called papertrail and it looks like to me it just pulls the email from their dedicated email address but the attachments are blank

          Re: scan to email

Are they using the same identical email address every send?
Sounds like a proxy cache issue or spamware block ?
Suggestion. Papertrail might need to be updated for compatibilty or security issues.

What mail protocol do they read with pop imap? Are they leaving mail on the server and dowloading
with two different programs ? Do they download attachment with pop and then use imap on another program ?
It should'nt really matter as it will all depend if "leave mail on server " settings are active.

Are they reading the email with and iphone or android ? Some email attachments come to my android tablet blank ,mostly corrupt.

they are reading the mail on a computer not on any of the phones. i will have to check what protocols they are using. all the papertrail wants is the attachment as that is the fax they dont want the actual email
