    grinding 281c on startup

    Hi,
I have a 281c and it grinds on startup like at the back near the fuser then after it has warmed up every 1/2 minute it resets and the grind happens again.. then it stops until I print and it resets and grinds.... where should I grease or replace. it sounds inside the ADU or behind in the fuser unit???
    Thanks

    Hello

i have had some grinding noise with those m/c as well. What I found mine to be was a gear and bushing. The gear sits behind the black dev unit you can see it if you pull out the black dev unit and all the colour units. Then look in from the side where you pulled out the coloured units you should be able to see 3 gears. The gear closet to you is usually the one that deteriorates also the bushing behind it can also chew the rod it sits on and cause the bushing to go from a circle shape to a oval shape.

That was what made the noise it could be the same as yours but could also not be but give it a go.

      Thanks Jerryl,
I wish I could say that was the problem, but its fixed now.
Still it gave me a chance to service the machine. I'm an E-studio man now, I have divorced the Ricoh and am selling her piece by piece, specially the 20 spare toners...
So it was down near the power supply some creepy gears and a stubborn rod.

      Thanks
