    [Misc] Fax handling on 3530c

I have a 3530c with a fax board. The only choices for pickup are automatic or manual. There is no way that I can see to set up a number of rings before it picks up. The problem is, that if a call comes in that is not a fax, the fax picks it up and there is no way to stop the fax and take the call. If I buy the 2nd line card, are there more options that will fix this problem. Anything to help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

This is because it IS a Business Fax Machine and requires a DEDICATED Line & cannot be used in conjunction with Services such as 'Distinctive Ring', Call Waiting etc. Hope this helps.

The only work around if you are unwilling to pay the extra monthly recurring charge for a dedicated fax line is to purchase a distinctive ring device like the Stick. $139.00 USD.

The Stick - Automatic Call Processor for phones, fax, & modems

This solution will also require you to subscribe to a distinctive ring service from the telco, likely at $8.00 month or more.

You still will only have one line so you cannot talk and fax at the same time. Also, you could loose your Caller ID feature. The set up is usually easy but sometimes requires you to read the User Guide.
