    s-Studio 255se Lack of response

Hi Have a toshiba e-studio 255se...Machine comes on however when pressing start nothing happens ... pressing scan (the e-filing option is grayed out). There is no lighting up or movement on the scanner. Machine shows ready but doing nothing.

The first thing I would try is new firmware.

If that dont work 3C blow the hdd and than install new firmware.

3+C on power on than format the hard drive , but I would avoid that if you can, usually new firmware fixes the problem

ok. We did install firmware but same issue. There was two options though in installing firmware showing L & N at the end of each firmware version...for now we used the one that says L.

Hummm. Sounds like we have something else going on besides bad firmware than.

When you say the machine does not respond, is that just copying and scanning?

Are you able to do an internal print, easiest way to check that is print a count sheet. Counter button and print count

Can you navigate to the various user functions?

The Different firmware versions are for the scanner firmware, If the machine has a 4line CCD use the L version, If it has a 3Line CCD use the N version

Great. Tried a list print and it did say printing and eventually the paper jammed. At least I know it would have printed if it was not for the Jam. Another thing I noticed is that at first it was showing undif error so was not printing until i set one of the trays to a paper size. The other two trays show undif still but the one i set as LT was the one that started working for now.

This means that some information maybe firmware related is not on the machine anymore. Technician will check to see if it is a 3line or 4line like u said.

So : Printing seems like it is working.

Confirmed it is a 4 line CCD which means we used the right firmware L version

Re: s-Studio 255se Lack of response

Good so we got the correct version of firmware on the machine.

Seems to be printing without any issues.

So all you are not able to do is scan and copy correct?

Are you getting any error codes when you try to scan? look the the top corner and it should show a code

Is the scanner moving and the lamp lighting when the machine is powered up? I'm assuming it does because usually if not it will throw a code

But it sounds like something internal with the machine and you will need to have a tech come out and look at it.

It could be many things at this point scanner lamp sys board slg ccd

Oh and does that start button work? Pretty obvious if it don't but just covering my bases

The start button works and the scanner light does come on when power is on however it does not react when pressing start to copy or scan. There is no error code.

                        Do you have an RADF?
Try unplugging it and see if that changes anything. ( power off first !)

it sounds like you might have board issues. I would check the platen sensor ,the SLG and CCD board first , than move on to the SYS board
