[Error Code] Toshiba 202L with F103 code

Hey All: I have no manual for this box but after quick search yielded the indication of an HDD related problem. Is there a way to test and reset code if it passes test? If not or it fails, what is procedure for replacing this if it's feasable to do so? Can it be replaced with something other than oem to keep repair costs down? What is the method of reflashing and to what version number.

You need the firmware and a new hard drive (60 gig ide pata maximum size)
Replace the hdd
clear +3 option 3
flash firmware
08-690 2 start
08-647 start
reboot

Thanks Mr. Spock...Great mind meld.
This client only uses the machine as a copier and nothing else. Do they still need the new HDD or can it be bypassed or shut off. Or does the scan once and copy many ability come from the HDD. They really want to minimize the cost of repair if at all possible.
