My Xerox wc 5875, presents a black bar at the top edge hen is only used the document feeder,
the glass does not!
how do ajsute feeder.

The document size is A4,
I do not have her manual!

First, lift the doc feeder and inspect the thin slit glass to the left of the main copy glass to make sure nothing is on it such as ink or correction fluid. This is where the scanner looks through to scan documents feed from the doc feeder for side 1. Your feeder is a single pass doc feeder meaning it has a second scanner built in to the doc feeder to scan side 2 of double sided originals. Are you getting this line on both sides of the paper if you copy a document in 2 side to 2 side mode?

You can try doing a doc feeder registration adjustment in service mode. Enter by pressing the 0 for about 5 to 10 seconds then press start. Enter code 6789.

Both windows are clean, the band only appears on one side of the copies.

When 2 for 2, it always appears on the first page in the second not.

I tried using the DC608 plus it gives error.

You may have dust/debris in the scanner on the mirrors. I encounter that a lot. Getting the glass off to get in there is a process but I bet that's where your problem lies. It could also be in the second side scan assembly.I also end up liking this out and taking them apart to clean inside.

Even though this is supposed to be a dust free and sealed system dust and dirt will find a way in both of these.

Most often there is black ink on the glass that is very difficult to detect by looking unless you use a bright flashlight and hold it on an angel. All it takes is one dot of ink on the glass to cause the line because then feeding through the doc feeder, the scanner does not move but looks through the same spot of glass the whole scan.I would suggest using something like alcohol to clean the glass. Take a look at where the line shows up on the copy then look at that section of slit glass (the thin strip of glass to the left of the main copy glass) and make sure you clean it well. It is less likely that there is something under the glass or on the mirrors causing it but not unheard of. If you still have no luck, post a photo sample of the line you are getting.

Newbie question, but could that machine have a SPDH? Kind of sounds like the scanner in the doc feeder is contaminated.

This adf is a single pass document feeder. so if it is copying fine from the glass, then the adf scanner should be the problem area. have to check the centering of the doc feeder [service mode adjust ]and make sure the doc feeder guides are in place. also as mentioned the adf scanner glass and the inside of the glass and mirrors. I do not use alcohol for cleaning mirrors as it leaves streaks. get a good glass cleaner that leaves no streaks. i make my own. there are many available commercially, and no i don't like windex.
